Member Perspectives: Mary Ellen Lourey

We asked some of our members to share a few brief thoughts about Oasis Christian Fellowship. Here’s how they responded!

“What is it like to be a member at Oasis?”

We are a small congregation at this point in our history. We endeavor to love one another, pray for one another and worship Jesus together regularly. There are opportunities for service that may not be available in larger congregations, and the space to try things out.

“What are services like at Oasis?”

They last about 1.5-2 hours each week, with a focus on worshiping God in music, and teaching of Scriptures usually by our pastor or associate pastor. There are occasional guest speakers, and once monthly (4th Sunday of the month) we share our testimonies or what we are learning in the Bible in lieu of teaching of Scriptures.

“How has Oasis helped your walk with Jesus Christ?”

Over the years I have learned to walk out my faith in daily life: by watching the lives of those in leadership and fellow members; by learning about Jesus, and how He wants me to live my life from the Scriptures, and through prayer. I have especially appreciated the ministry of prayer by our pastor, and his faithfulness in praying for us over the years and have been buoyed in times of trouble by his and others’ prayers. I have also appreciated the guest speakers we have had and the challenge to live life as a disciple of Jesus.
